Recycled Cardboard Boxes
When I was young, the idea of using recycled cardboard boxes became a very popular topic of conversation. This was something that was done on occasion, but it was not common by any means. Though I was not old enough or really understand why something like this could be so important, it was one of the first clues I had that there were problems with how we take care of our planet and our natural resources. Back then, anything made with recycled paper was marked very boldly, but today, it barely warrants a notice.
More and more things are made with recycled paper, including used cardboard boxes and you would never know it. There are some who won’t use it because they think it is dirty, but that seems to be a false idea. I have watched programs on my television that show how this paper is recycled, and it seems to be almost cleaner than the fresh paper products. It can be just as strong, and it saves so many trees from being cut down. Some of the most common recycled materials are cardboard boxes and newspapers, though there are many other types that can be saved for reuse. You may not want to recycle your grease-sodden paper plates, but you should recycle magazines and even old books.
I would disagree with anyone who says that re-using a products would not make a difference to our planet. How many tree chopped down are replaced, not as many as you think? There are some great companies that do this, but there are many more that do not. Trees supply us with one of the most important things we need, and without oxygen and clean air, we might find our days are numbers.
If you don’t feel comfortable using recycled paper for your toilet paper or your paper plates, that is fine. There are other things made with this type of paper that you can use if you are worried about cleanliness. There are many types of paper like printing or writing paper you can buy. A great example of a product made from recycled paper is a cardboard box and also a newspaper. Every time you buy something made of this type of paper, and every time you wrap up your newspaper for recycling, you should know you are making a difference.
Consider the environment when building

The efficient use of resources represents the fundamental principle behind the concept of sustainable building. Following the green criterion, the construction, the sitting, the design and the maintenance of a building have a limited impact on the environment. Sustainable building construction further needs to rely on high quality work standards that enable the elimination of the polluting waste and toxic agents as well as the efficient use of the resources. At a small scale, sustainable building is known in the form of natural building.
Local resources only serve for the construction. The benefits of such a sustainable building are manifold if we consider the aimed efficiency of all the processes. The operating costs are a lot lower because the energy and the water consume is more effective. The impact on the indoor quality remains high, meaning that the chances to develop mold for instance are lower. Enthusiasts of sustainable building also try to create a balance between the architecture or design lines and the surroundings of the structure.
Ifsustainable building practices become more extended, a serious reduction of the environmental impact of business can result from it. Statistics indicate that homes take up most of the total energy consume both in the European Union and the United States, and commercial buildings are following close behind. It is with buildings that the highest levels of carbon dioxide are also generated, and pollution levels become critical. The solution could thus come from the practices and techniques specific to sustainable building in order to reduce the negative impact of human habitat on the environment and implicitly make living conditions healthier.
Solar panels and rain gardens are just two solutions available with sustainable building. Sun light and rain are both natural free resources that allow users to make considerable savings. Why use tap water for the garden when there are special collecting systems that capture rain water? Even the materials used for sustainable building are environmently friendly, and here we refer either to wood from sustainable managed forests or to ecology blocks. Recycled materials such as wood fibers, calcium sand stone, compressed earth blocks, foundry sand and even demolition debris could also turn into useful resources for sustainable building.
Being Environmentally friendly by building your own wind generator

Using a DIY generator you will cut cost and be more environmentally friendly. The wind generator is an effective way to cut electricity costs and utilize the natural wind power. When you build your wind generators two the key factors are wind velocity and how consistent the wind is.
Position your wind turbine within a consistent wind flow path that has speeds of about nine miles an hour to ensure that the wind you collect will be able to convert. Wind gnerator tower should be made of steel or strong wood and slightly away from the home. The height of the tower, the pitch angle and number of blades will all be determined by your individual needs.
Surf the web as there are many sites which offer information and special offers to help you build your wind generator or maybe a solar power system, they will let you know exactly what materials are required. The installation once done will pay for itself in time, the cost is generally low and will continue to drop.
To avoid damage to your wind generator in strong winds and storms you may want to consider designing the blades to be collapsed when needed.
Why not do some research into how wind and solar power can save you money and save the planet.
Environmentally friendly books, paper, websites are available to all of us to find out more about how we can play or part in being green. Why not think about harnessing the power of the sun and set up a solar power system. Home which are built with the environment in mind are the future. Take a stand now for a greener planet, whether it is installing alternative green energy systems or recycling. There are so many options available to each of us to help keep our planet alive.
Go Green Today, don’t forget to be environmentally friendly.
What Are Biomass Pellet?

Biomass pellet are a compressed form of the original raw material. Collectively the raw material is called biomass. Biomass can take many forms, for example one form of biomass is wood. By compressing the material into pellets creates a uniform highly compressed commodity. This commodity can be used for several purposes, for example they can be burnt to produce energy in the form of heat or used for animal bedding.

The reasons for turning the raw material into pellets is quite simple. In its raw form the biomass has a low density and is very expensive to transport. pellet can drastically reduce the foot space of the raw material. This means more of the raw material can be placed on the back of a lorry or on a boat. This means reduced transport costs, however there is another advantage. Pellets are seen as a environmentally friendly fuel and kind to the environment because of several reasons and one main reason is it takes less lorries and boats to transport pellets from one location to another. This means less CO2 is produced, which helps to reduce the rate of global warming.
Secondly in its raw state most biomass is awkward to handle and use. For example wood log stoves are very common, however the user has to manually load the stove every few hours. By turning wood into pellets the user can load a hopper and the stove will feed its self. Depending on the size of the pellets hopper the user may have to fill the hopper every day up to once a year. Therefore tuning the raw material into pellets gives a similar level of convenience users today expect and receive from gas and oil appliances.
Pellets are produced under vast amounts of pressure and heat. The biomass enters a machine called a pellet mill and under pressure and heat is turned into a pellet. The raw material is effectively melted and reformed. The pellets come out of the machine very hot, and cannot be used until they have cooled. Once the pellet has cooled it resembles a coloring crayon, they are normally about 1 inch in length and should have a surface shine. Due to their increased density over the raw material they are alot heavier than the raw material. Due to the weight and uniform size they flow like water. This ability to flow means they are ideal for hoppers and feed systems for pellet burners. The uncompressed raw material would simply bridge in a feed hopper and cause lots of problems.
Pellets burn a lot better than the unprocessed raw material. Due to the high density of the pellet, a more complete burn is achieved. This means more heat, efficiency and fewer particulates and emissions. Keeping emissions and particulates as low as possible benefits air quality and the environment.

Eight Tips to Green Up Your Office
At your home, you may have stopped using incandescent bulbs, you may have a low flow showerhead, you may have added more organic foods to your diet, and recycling may have become an ingrained habit. You are doing your part at home to reduce your carbon footprint and keep our Earth green.
But how many of us are carrying that same concern into the workplace? How many eco-friendly office supplies do you use at work?
Using eco-friendly office supplies can save a business hundreds or thousands of dollars, depending on the size of your company. Here are eight ways to make your office a little greener.
1. Make it easy to recycle. Set up bins for various recyclables that you go through in any given day. You can recycle the paper you print on, your calendars and organizers, even the ink cartridges themselves.
2. Purchase items made from recycled material, whenever possible. It’s easy to find post-consumber paper and other eco-friendly office supplies, such as printers made primarily of recycled plastic.
3. Opt for refurbished office equipment instead of always buying new. Expect savings of 20 to 30 percent on refurbished office equipment and even more if you buy it used. Most refurbished items still have a valid manufacturer’s warranty. Make sure to read the fine print before you finalize your purchase.
4. Waste not. Get into the eco-friendly office mindset by reducing your waste. Print and write on both sides of the paper. Print documents only when it’s necessary to do so. Share PDF files, for example, instead of printing each document. Use the office bulletin boards or email to reduce the amount of paper needed for office memos. Scrap paper should be collected for recycling and not thrown away. And, whenever possible, reuse envelopes, boxes and packing materials.
5. Turn off your computer when you are done for the day. The electricity you save by turning off your computer each day will be well worth the few seconds it takes to boot it back up in the morning. You may be surprised to know that many office machines are continuing to draw power from their source, even when they are switched off. You can save energy by putting the office equipment on a power strip, so you can entirely switch off the electricity to the machines.
6. When you replace office supplies, do so with an eye toward energy usage. Switch a CRT monitor, for example, to an energy-saving LCD flat screen monitor. You’ll save on energy costs in the long run.
7. Clean green. Don’t forget the cleaning products used in your office. You can “green” them too by using only non-toxic, biodegradable, natural cleaners. Depending on the size of your company, you might be doing the earth a favor to do away with Styrofoam or paper cups. Have employees bring their own glassware for coffee or water. For large office gatherings when it’s not practical to ask everyone to bring their own place setting, consider compostable plates, bowls, cups, and cutlery. More major office supplies stores are starting to carry these items.
8. Start a Green Team. If your business is large enough to merit it, form a “green” committee to meet on a regular basis and brainstorm new ways to fill your workplace with eco-friendly office supplies.
Protecting the environment is important enough to be carried on anywhere we are, throughout our entire day, at work as well as at home.
